Department: Division of Environment (ENVR)
Project Start Year: 2025/26
Description:

This project aims to scale experiential learning in sustainability education by redesigning two game-based learning tools—MilkCo. and the Fair Price Calculator—for use in large-enrollment undergraduate courses. Traditionally limited by facilitation demands and classroom logistics, these tools will be adapted into web-based formats supported by generative AI to enable seamless implementation in classes of up to 120+ students. The MilkCo. board game will be converted into a flexible card game with an AI facilitator bot, while the Fair Price Calculator will be upgraded into a mobile-friendly web application with real-time class leaderboards.

Project objectives include:
(1) enhancing student engagement and sustainability awareness through active learning;
(2) increasing accessibility and scalability of experiential tools;
(3) developing AI-supported facilitation to reduce teaching workload; and
(4) promoting reflective discussion and peer interaction even in large-class settings.

The project will deliver adaptable learning resources, a pilot-tested AI bot, and evaluation data on student learning impact.
